Antibiotic Stewardship (ABS)

In this context, antibiotic stewardship is a sustained, programmatic endeavour to improve and ensure rational practice when it comes to prescribing anti-infective drugs. This includes strategies and measures of ensuring the quality of anti-infective treatment in terms of the selection, dosage, application and duration of the treatment, with the aim of achieving the best clinical treatment results combined with the lowest possible toxicity for the patient.
