Pain therapy

One of the central activities at our clinic is the treatment of pain. After a major operation, our patients are looked after by our anaesthetics team for periods of several days, to ensure that they are given optimum treatment to cope with post-operative pain.
This includes the use of both systemic and special-purpose catheter procedures. The therapy commences in the operating theatre and is modified in line the patient’s individual requirements.
Besides continuous regional anaesthetic procedures, we also employ patient-controlled analgesic methods, in which the patient is able to give himself a defined dose of painkiller subject to a predetermined safety limit.

The effective treatment of pain in the post-operative phase plays an essential role in the success of the operation as a whole. It enables the patient to enjoy mobility at an early stage, while increasing the speed of recovery and minimising the risk of complications.
